Title: Assessment in Less Commonly Taught Languages
Date: Thursday, April 27, 2006
Time: 1:30 - 5:30 pm
Venue: Capitol Ballroom, The Madison Concourse Hotel

This workshop will consist of four independent modules. Each module is independent but not overlapping; therefore, participants can attend any or all sessions. The four topics for the module follow.

Module 1: The ABCs of Assessment: This module will outline the basic vocabulary of assessment, including classroom terms, reliability and validity. Participants will take part in a small group activity to identify their basic assessment literacy.

Module 2: Needs Assessment Development: Module 2 will allow participants to conduct a needs assessment on their individual needs for assessment in their own situation. This needs assessment will identify their strengths and challenges and help to establish a timeline by which to accomplish their goals.

Module 3: Assessment Resources: Module 3 will allow participants to identify both needed and existing resources for assessment in their own situations.

Module 4: Differences in LCTLs: Module 4 will allow participants to identify the differences and challenges faced by LCTLs in providing assessment in their individual situations.
