PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP

“The Role of Standards in the LCTLs”

by Christine L. Brown, Superintendent of the Glastonbury (CT) Public School System

Ms. Brown served as Chair of the K-12 Student Standards Writing Task Force for the National Standards in Foreign Language Education Project.  Recently she served as a consultant to the Arabic Standards Project, the Maine Standards Revision Project, and the AERO Standards project for the Near East and Southeast Asia US Department of State Schools.

The workshop addressed the following subjects:

• Impact of Standards Across All Disciplines to Date
• The Content of the Language Standards K-16
• Materials Development Needs
• Assessment Development
• Implications for Standards Based Teaching
