NCOLCTL is seeking nominations for the 2008 Walton Award Recipient

 

Each year at the annual meeting of the National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages, the Walton Award is presented to an individual whose career has been distinguished by selfless service and noteworthy contributions to the fostering of less commonly taught language initiatives. Named after the late A. Ronald Walton whose tireless efforts on behalf of less commonly taught languages are remembered fondly by all who knew him, the Walton award will be presented at the NCOLCTL annual meeting next year in Madison, Wisconsin, on 23-26 April, 2008.

From 2004, we started an open nomination system whereby nominations will be entertained from individual members of any and all of the NCOLCTL member organizations, as well as from concerned professionals active in less-commonly taught language endeavors who are not affiliated with any particular language organization. To submit a nomination, please forward via email a) cover letter explaining why your nominee is a worthy candidate to receive the Walton Award because his/her career has been characterized by selfless service and noteworthy contributions on behalf of less commonly taught language initiatives and b) your nominee’s curriculum vitae. Please email the nomination to the address below by December 10th, 2008.
