The first NCOLCTL Conference on the Less Commonly
Taught Languages  was held on October 17-19, 1997,
at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

This conference focused on three areas that are critical to the advancement of less commonly taught language learning: teaching training; instructional technology; and outreach to heritage communities.
